Allan Thompson was the longest employed member of staff at Festival Records Pyrmont.

We last saw Allan in his wheelchair with breathing assistance from his oxygen bottle at the 2017 reunion. He spent many years in and around the record presses & factory.

Allan commenced with Festival when located in Phillip Street and only retired when the Company closed.

He was a trained fitter and turner and became expert in all the factory requirements not the least of which were steam and hydrolics that was used in the record presses.

A very competent and considerate “can do man” he was the maintenance “boss” from the day he started until the Company closed its Pyrmont factory.

He passed away after a short stay in hospital from an ongoing medical condition at the age of 89.

The attached photo from our last Reunion & the Ryde Reunion shows Allan in great spirits as he loved the company & colleagues he worked with. His wife & partner Hazel were together for over 70 years  (who pre-deceased him). He is survived by Julie and Peter.

He kept the vinyl manufacturing process running with the many others in the factory team. A long term dedicated employee in the Festival Records factory.

Allans family advised Meryl that he had a picture by his bed side in the hospital of the 2017 group reunion photo.

The funeral will be held on Thursday 31st May 2018 10.30am at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, South Chapel, Camden Valley Way, Leppington.
